For 2 Years Hospital Unaware Employee Stole 12,517 Patient IDs

A New York hospital was unaware that an employee had stolen 12,517 patient identities until law enforcement notified them.

On May 15, 2015, the hospital learned the employee had stolen patient names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, next of kin information, and health insurance details. The theft occurred between January 2013 and June 2013.
