IRS Worker Stole IDs for Tax Fraud

An IRS worker in Saint Louis stole identities and then filed 356 fraudulent state and federal tax returns. She has pleaded guilty in US District Court to charges of identity theft and wire fraud.

She used names, birth dates and Social Security numbers of others without their knowledge to fill out federal and state tax returns, then added false information including addresses, workplaces, wages and the amount of tax withheld, according to prosecutors.
